ONE HALLOWEEN EVENING
& ONE CHRISTMAS-EVE EVENING

The first book I ever (properly) wrote was a children’s rhyme that I can only describe as “Dr. Seuss meets Edgar Allan Poe.” The story tells the tale of a boy who, on Halloween Night, goes trick-or-treating down a dark and windy road, coming across both friends and frights in his attempts to earn candy and conquer his fears. The story takes a relatively dark turn in the end, but I’m a firm believer that scaring children (within reason) is good: It builds character to be afraid of a story. One Halloween Evening is certain to build some character in young readers!

The follow-up to One Halloween Evening, this children’s picture book tells the tale of a child who, on Christmas Eve, discovers his parents setting up his toys under the tree, leading him to conclude that Santa must have passed by his house. A boycott of St. Nick follows, leading the child through a year of protests and demands until finally, the following Christmas Eve he comes face to face with the man himself, learning a valuable lesson in the end!

the CHUMPTY DUMPTY trilogy

Chumpty Dumpty is a fairy tale story for kids that I and my former-writing partner started developing many years ago. Phillip sadly died of cancer and we were never able to finish. Working on this is a great source of poignancy, but hopefully it will bring catharsis too. All three books tell the tale of a boy who never feels comfortable in the role he seems destined to hold, of the friends he leans on for support during hard times, and the adventure he stumbles into which challenge him physically and emotionally.

In CHUMPTY DUMPTY AND THE BEANSTALK TALE, King Humpty Dumpty has a great fall, so it's up to the King's timid son Chumpty to lead a quest to the lair of a terrible giant, in hopes of defeating the monster and saving his kingdom. To do so, Chumpty must find the legendary giant slayer Jack, lost for a generation somewhere within the dreaded Haunted Forest. Danger, surprises, and adventure await in the first book of the Chumpty Dumpty trilogy!

In CHUMPTY DUMPTY AND THE WISHING-WELL WAR, all the stars fall out of the sky, so it's up to Chumpty Dumpty and his friends to find the Wishing Well and save the hopes and dreams of the Kingdom! The second book in the Chumpty Dumpty trilogy takes Chumpty, Betty, and Art to strange new lands, where they will meet friends and enemies, from pyramid scheme-pushing cultists to pirates battling monstrous squids! Adventure, heroism, heartache, and friendship await in Chumpty Dumpty and the Wishing-Well War!

In CHUMPTY DUMPTY AND THE IMPOSSIBLE QUEST, the final book in the trilogy begins with a scandalous kidnapping, continues with an innocent (egg)man being framed, and ends with an epic battle between fire magic, ice magic, armies of soldiers, escaped prisoners, and more! The Impossible Quest is what Chumpty is faced with, as he and his friends Art and Betty plunge into the dreaded "Curse'd Woods," where a person's worst fears come to life.Adventure, friendship, comedy, thrills, scares, and more await in the exciting conclusion to the Chumpty Dumpty fairy tale series!

the BILLY RICHMOND series

Billy Richmond is a rambunctious, curious, well-intentioned little trouble-finder, sometimes working at his grandpa’s Antique Shop, sometimes getting harassed by bullies in middle school, and sometimes falling headfirst into fantastical adventures with his best friends Ronnie, Janie, and Freddie, learning life lessons along the way.

In BILLY RICHMOND AND THE APPLIANCE WARS, Young Billy Richmond and his friends stumble upon another dimension, one populated by walking and talking (and warring!) appliances, power tools, and other household items. It’s up to Billy to save the Toaster Rebellion from the clutches of the fiendish Refrigerator Empire, and then somehow get home before he’s grounded for missing dinner!

In BILLY RICHMOND AND THE SOMETIMES SCARY FANTASY ADVENTURE, Young Billy Richmond and his friends stumble upon a book hidden away for ages, going back to the days of warlocks, mummies, and other frightening spooksters. Opening the book accidentally set loose a horrible curse and now it’s up to Billy to put the evil back in its leather-bound prison before his town (and possibly the world) goes up in smoke!

In BILLY RICHMOND AND THE 1990’S SPACE OPERA SHAMELESS RIP OFF (title pending), Young Billy Richmond and his friends stumble upon an old recipe for “Actually Good Fruit Cake” that Janie’s evil Grandma Fuhtarkin has been trying to find for years! The race is on to get the recipe to Janie’s sweet Aunt Mira Lackbar before Fuhtarkin gets her grubby hands on it. The trouble is, poor Janie has been grounded all Summer long. It’s up to Billy to rescue his friend and get the recipe where it belongs before everything blows up in their faces!

In BILLY RICHMOND AND THE UPSIDE-DOWN STAMP BRIGADE, Young Billy Richmond and his friends stumble upon a vast international conspiracy, kept hidden by a secret society that has long searched for a map to the greatest treasure ever imagined. It’s up to Billy to use the map and get the treasure to safe hands, before everyone else that’s after it gets there first!

OTHER CHILDRENS BOOKS

I have many more children’s stories on the way, so I’ll be adding more cover art as it comes. These are standalone novels, but I have sequels in mind for a few of them…

THE GREAT MOUSE ESCAPE is about a makeshift family of lab mice who work day and night on plan after plan to escape from their cage. At its heart, this is a story about family, and the things that are worth sacrificing to be with the ones you love.

THE TROLL WHO CHOSE TO READ is the story of a troll child who comes from a community of ruffians and brutes, who rebels against the expectations of his people and chooses to educate himself. After being outcast from his village, the young troll wanders the land and meets other misfits who accept him for who he is. Together they embark on an adventure of fun and friendship, as they are chased by the terrible troll king.

20K LIGHTYEARS FROM EARTH is a science-fiction spin on the classic Jules Verne adventure story, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. In the distant future, at the edge of the solar system, something is preying on spaceships. When the civilian ship, The Solonius, goes out on a field trip with a boatload of children on board, that same something strikes, forcing a handful of the survivors to pick up the pieces and solve the mystery. Where it takes them is to the wider galaxy, to worlds beyond our star, and to the terrors that exist twenty-thousand lightyears from Earth!

FROGGY WENT A-COURTIN’ is about an adventurous swordsman that pursues an evil prince when he finds out the prince has asked his girlfriend to marry him. His adventure leads him down a rabbit hole of international intrigue and conspiracy, as he uncovers the full scope of the prince's plan, not only to marry his best girl (who is more than she appears) but also to take over and rule the whole continent!

There are more on the way, too. In all, I have about about a dozen new children’s books I’ll be working on for the next few years.

More books are always in the works,
so keep an eye out here for the next release!
