bits I’m working on (and stuff already out)

February update

I’m about halfway done with RAPTURE OF TWILIGHT, but I have revised my schedule and have spaced out my workflow. What that means is I will not be completing all the novels I had planned for this year. In fact, Rapture will be the only novel I write this year. God willing, it’ll be done in April. After that, I will be devoting extra time to commentary writing. I can see the finish line there and want to wrap up that massive, decade-long project.

I will still write novels; in fact, I have two planned for next year (a sci-fi and a fantasy), but I’ve noticed my quality has dipped over the past couple years. I haven’t written a book I really love since The Last of the Troll Hunters (August of 2024), and for non-children’s books, the last one I thought I nailed was Debris (December 2023). My quality has slipped because I am rushing and not devoting enough time to later drafts.

Hopefully, if not with Rapture, then certainly the next novels (GENERATIONS, followed by THE KEY), my quality will increase with the added time devoted to the work.

As for the commentaries, I’m about 1/3 of the way through Numbers, and hope to complete Deuteronomy, Joshua-Ruth, and 1-2 Samuel before the end of the year. Next year will be devoted to 1-2 Kings/Chronicles, and Ezra-Esther. With that, the series will be done, though I intend to go back and re-do some of my first commentaries, adding new material to them. In all, I hope to be done-done for good with the series at the end of 2028.
